MaxPlay uses ClearPlay technology to filter out objectionable content from movies such as foul language, nudity, sexual situations and extreme violence. The MaxPlay DVD Player comes with 1000 pre–loaded movies and can store up to 2000 movie filters.
MaxPlay has the same great features as ClearPlay because it uses ClearPlay technology. The MaxPlay DVD Player includes 1000 movie filters. Unlike the ClearPlay DVD Player, a FilterStik and USB port is not included with the MaxPlay DVD player. Extra movie filters are downloaded through an existing telephone line. Access to these movies, requires a subscription to ClearPlay for $7.95 per month or $79.50 per year.
Once your Maxplay DVD Player is active, simply scroll through the list that displays on your TV screen and choose the movies you want to watch. The MaxPlay DVD Player can store up to 2000 movie filters. To see a list of the 1000 movie titles included with the MaxPlay DVD Player, access the ClearPlay website.
Like ClearPlay, MaxPlay filters out offensive dialog such as cursing and sexually charged language. Filtered scenes include nudity, sexual situations and excessive violence. You can also set parental rating limits from 1–8. A number one rating is equivalent to a G–rating and a number eight rating will allow any content.
MaxPlay also has a range of DVD features such as Frame Advance, Reverse Frame, Slow Motion, Frame–by–Frame, Title/Track Selection, Chapter Selection and more.
The ClearPlay features as well as the MaxPlay DVD features are easily accessed with the DVD remote control. Your TV screen displays all the menus and options. Use the arrow keys to navigate the menus and press the “Ok” button when you want to activate a feature. It takes 2–4 minutes to download a movie filter from a telephone line.
The MaxPlay DVD player includes a User’s Manual, Quick Start Guide and dial-up connections. Simply hook up the DVD player to your TV with the color–coded component video/audio connection and you’re ready to watch movies. A filter will not work unless the DVD movie is played in the MaxPlay DVD player. You can use DVDs that you already own, purchase new ones or use rentals. To download extra movie filters, you need to connect the MaxPlay DVD Player to a telephone line.
Movies are pre–filtered, using ClearPlay technology, so MaxPlay's filter accuracy is close to 100%. However, keep in mind that ClearPlay also strives to keep movie storylines intact, so some parental settings such as number one for G rated movies may not be compatible with an R–rated movie. To edit such a movie, much of the storyline may be lost; therefore, important scenes with offensive content may be left unfiltered.
